Two Faced

July 12, 2015

This is my very first blog post. I am not a writer. I hate to read. Not to mention that English was the hardest subject in school, from grade school to college. I am better in Math, but in English? Forget it. I am putting this disclaimer to let you guys know that you may find grammatical errors, run on sentences and such. And for this, I apologize in advance. I will do my best to explain and express what I want to convey and rest assured that I will make each and every blog post an “easy read”.

Two faced. Consider this very first post as my self introduction. My name is Tennessee, born and raised in the Philippines and migrated here in the United States when I was 17 years old. I liked it here, so much that I started planning my life on that first day I stepped foot on it, out of that Jetbridge, off of that airplane from Manila. Chicago was my first stop. It was the nicest place I have seen. I mean, who would have not want to see America? I worked numerous jobs, made friends, lost friends, learned my new american life. At first, it was tough. I cried every night, wanting to go back to Manila so bad. I told myself, “Suck it up, deal with it because you are better of here.” Cultural assimilation was a piece of cake, I handled it with confidence and I was good at it. I was able to adapt immediately and with no hesitation. Then I realized, America is not too bad after all.

I found the love of my life, got married and moved to San Francisco. I fell in love in this city. I mean, Chicago is awesome but San Francisco is the place to be, to live, to work and have fun. The weather alone is incomparable to Chicago. Not even close. I went to school here, finished college and worked several interships here and there. I was all over the place. Come 2007, 2 months after my college graduation, I landed my dream job, being a Flight Attendant. I have always dreamed of being a flight attendant since I was a young girl. And now it happened, how  cool is that? I mean, it’s not something like  dreaming to be a doctor or lawyer or something but this was my MY DREAM, MY DREAM! Eight years have passed and I am still a flight attendant who enjoys the job, who looks forward to going to work, who is always excited to find out the unpredictability of life. I will get into details about this “FACE No. 1” on my future posts and maybe write about my travels too.

Now, I am introducing you guys to “FACE No.2”. I am a Professional Candle Maker. I make candles for a living. It’s a pretty cool gig, I must say. My company is called 676 Candles Co. We make Pure Soy, Vegan, Individually Handcrafted scented candles. Why 676? Well, 676 is my employee number at my other job, you know the flight attendant job? Yes, that’s where it came from. All my candle scents are also named after real flight attendants, all my good friends. We have a total of 17 scents to choose from. Varies from floral, fruity, sweet and clean scents. Currently, we have 4 farmer’s markets weekly, 8 retail shops, an online store and festivals that we participate on a monthly basis. Pretty awesome huh? I think so too.
